Yoav Ziv

Yoav Ziv is a PhD student in the department of astrophysics at Tel Aviv University, where he studies white dwarfs, the dense remnants of “dead” stars. His research focuses on population synthesis simulations, and searching for double-white-dwarf systems, in order to better understand the late stages of stellar life in our galaxy.

Yoav earned his Bachelor’s degree in physics cum laude from Tel Aviv University before advancing directly into PhD studies. He has served as lab instructor and is a recipient of the Dean’s Honor for his undergraduate studies. Outside the university, he likes to try his hand at writing short sci-fi stories, exploring the questions science cannot explain.
